Why is CVR MLS partnering with Bright MLS?
CVR MLS believes that this strategic relationship with Bright will greatly benefit our mutual users. By exchanging data within our native MLS systems, our brokers and agents will have broader exposure for their listings and have a wider geography of listing information available to them to support their customers and clients.
What Bright jurisdictions will be included in the data share?
The CVR MLS / Bright data share will include all of Bright’s Virginia jurisdictions:
Alexandria City Loudoun
Arlington Madison
Caroline Manassas City
Clarke Manassas Park City
Culpeper Orange
Fairfax Page
Fairfax City Prince William
Falls Church City Rappahannock
Fauquier Shenandoah
Frederick Spotsylvania
Fredericksburg City Stafford
King George Warren
Winchester City
What types of listings will be shared?
The MLSs will be sharing residential listings (single family, townhouse/condo, lot/land, and multi-family) and rental listings for coming soon, active, pending, and sold statuses.
We will not be sharing commercial listings or non-Virginia listings.
Will Bright’s data share impact any other data shares?
Chesapeake Bay and Rivers (CBRAR) and REIN listings will continue to be available in our Matrix system.
The addition of Bright’s Virginia listings will expand CVR MLS listing visibility significantly throughout the Commonwealth.
Can I enter a listing that falls into Bright’s territory?
Yes, CVR MLS provides tax information for all Virginia localities, so you may enter a listing for any part of the Commonwealth of Virginia in CVR MLS.
If I am a member of both MLSs, should I enter a listing in both systems?
While not prohibited, CVR MLS suggests that agents only enter a listing into one system. The best practice would be to enter the listing into the MLS system that geographically serves as the “local” MLS where the property is located. Dual entry of a listing may cause some confusion to back-end products and external data feeds and agents will need to maintain both listings accurately and in accordance with respective MLS rules.
How do I search for a Bright listing?
Bright’s listings are integrated into our CVR MLS system, so Bright listings that match your search criteria will appear alongside CVR MLS and other data share partner listings. Bright listings will also have a prefix of “BRT” before the MLS number, so it will be clear that the listing is originally sourced from Bright’s system.
What lockbox system does Bright use?
Bright MLS does not mandate a certain lockbox system, but most of the associations in the Bright (Virginia) footprint provide SentriLock services to agents. CVR MLS has a reciprocal agreement in place with all of these associations, therefore your current SentriLock credentials should work for a Bright listing, and vice versa, their SentriLock credentials should work for our CVR SentriLock boxes.
If an agent does not have SentriLock access, you may provide access through a one-day code or SentriConnect.
Can I add Bright listings to my website now that CVR and Bright are in a data share?
No, access to external data feeds for websites, CRMs or back-end products through IDX feeds, back office or other data feeds are not part of the access provided in our data share.
Will Bright listings be available in MLS Touch and OneHome?
Yes, but it is expected that it may take a few days for the listings to populate into these tools. We expect listings to be available in MLS Touch and OneHome by May 20th.
How do I schedule a showing on a Bright listing?
Bright’s showing instructions will appear in the Additional Showing Instructions field. We have expanded this field to ensure that you are able to fully see all of the necessary showing information.
Unfortunately, our data share could not support the Showingtime “schedule a showing” button. To schedule a showing on a Bright listing, you should use the Showingtime app on your device or through the Showingtime tile on your MLS dashboard. You can search by address or MLS ID (remember to remove the "BRT" prefix from the MLS number) to find the listing in the Showingtime platform.
How will a Bright agent schedule a showing on one of my CVR listings?
The Showingtime “schedule a showing” button will not visible on CVR MLS listings in the Bright system, so Bright agents will have to use the Showingtime app or website to schedule showings on your listing. Please be patient with them and guide them to those resources accordingly.
Can Bright agents access CVR MLS forms?
At this time, Bright agents do not have access to CVR MLS forms. You may share CVR forms with a Bright agent within the context of a transaction for one of your listings, including the purchase contract for submission of an offer on one of your listings.
How do I report a compliance matter on a Bright listing?
Please contact the CVR MLS compliance team for any compliance concerns.
Are there any differences I should be aware of?
As expected, there are nuances between Bright’s MLS technology platforms and rules and regulations. While the teams work together to minimize any significant differences, there are a few things to keep in mind:
- Required fields differ from MLS to MLS. Bright listings may not have owner names, school information or other field data that you are typically used to seeing in CVR MLS.
- Most Virginia Bright users use the NVAR forms library. You may share CVR forms with a Bright agent in connection with a transaction (or potential transaction) to facilitate collaboration.
